To millions of fans in the United States, Jim Dale is the “voice” of Harry Potter. He has recorded all seven books in the Harry Potter collection, and as narrator received seven Grammy nominations. Dale has won two Grammy Awards, a record 10 Audie Awards (including “Audio Publication of the Year 2004,” “Ideal Children’s Narrator 2001/2005/2007/ 2008,” and “Best Children’s Audio Book 2005”), two Benjamin Franklin Awards from the Independent Book Publishers Association (including one in 2001 for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban), and 23 AudioFile Earphone Awards. He is also the narrator for the Harry Potter computer game and for most of the interactive “bonuses” on the Harry Potter DVD releases. Dale holds two Guinness World Records: one for having produced and videotaped 146 different personality voices for one audiobook (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) and one for holding the top six places in the Top 10 Audiobooks in the U.S. and Canada in 2005.
